Game of the Week Provincial AAA - Interlake vs Bruins

On February 6th the Provincial Midget Interlake Lighting took to the ice against the Winnipeg Bruins.  Both teams came out with guns a blazing which made for an exciting first period. Under a minute into the game the Lightning strike first courtesy of a Cody McMillian goal.  Not soon after the Bruins answer back with a goal of their own coming off the stick of Mathieu Catellier.  Both teams battle back and forth getting ample chances to score until the Bruins’ Graeme Patrick is able to connect for the Bruins making the score 2-1 with 3 minutes left in the period.  With time winding down the Bruins catch a break when the Lighting taking a late penalty. On the power play, the Bruins make the Lightning pay with a goal from Bryden Kiesman ending the period at 3-1 for the Bruins. 

 

The second period started off with both team continuing their back and forth play but was plagued with penalties from both sides.  Near the midway point of the period the Bruins find the back of the net with a shot from Trent Thornton.  The period ended with the score 4-1 in favour of Bruins.

 

With the Lighting needing to score to keep themselves in the game, they are able to find the back of the net with Lightning forward Derrick Lange scoring just before the midway point of the period.  The Bruins not wanting to be outdone come back less than a minute later with a goal of their own.  Will Highet of the Bruins finds the twine to restore the Bruins 3 goal lead.  With only a few minutes remaining in the third period the Bruins add to their lead with Mathieu Catellier getting his second goal of the game making it 6-2 which is how the game ends.
