With the AAA Provincial Midget league getting started up, Winnipeg rivals the Wild took on the Bruins in an exciting match up on October 12th.

From the opening face-off, both of the teams were eager and hungry to get a win.  Both sides battled hard with the game going end to end during the first period with the home side Wild striking first at the midway point with Ryan Brennan potting his second goal of the year.  Shortly after getting on the score board, the Wild carried the momentum scoring another just moments later.  With his first goal of the year Dean Gorchyski added to the Wild’s lead making it 2-0.  The period ended without the Bruins being able to get on the scoreboard and the Wild carrying a 2-0 lead into the second period.

The second period started with the Bruins catching a break on a turnover that caused a 4 on 0 odd-man rush.  This looked like a promising chance for the Bruins to get on the board but they weren’t able to convert due to a missed pass.  Both teams tried to gain an advantage for the rest of the period, but it was the Wild who were able to convert on a shot from Jackson Klewchuck.  The period ended with the Wild scoring the only marker of the period advancing the lead to 3-0 over the Bruins.

At the drop of the puck to start the third period, the Bruins played with a different level of energy and urgency.  Whether it came from the captains or from the coaching staff, the Bruins fuse was lit.  Under a minute into the third period the Bruins’ Will Highet slid a puck past the Wild’s goalie Brett Murphy to get the Bruins on the board.  The Bruins continued to swarm the Wild for the remainder of the period getting plenty of chances but not being able to convert any into goals.  Still being down 2 goals with only a few minutes left in the game, the Bruins pulled goalie Nikulas Jerris for the extra attacker, which pays off.  Bruins forward Nathanael Hinds is able to capitalize right away, scoring his second goal of the year closing the gap to 3-2.  Right off the faceoff, the Bruins directly attack back into the Wild’s zone.  Once again this springs Nikulas Jerris from the net for the extra attacker.  Up one player the Bruins hem the Wild in their own zone creating a big scramble right in front of the Wild net for the last 20 seconds of the game.  Even though the Bruins had plenty of opportunities to score, it didn’t yield any goals.  After the final buzzer, the Wild came out on top by a score of 3-2
