Wednesday @ Maples Arena

Wednesday night at the Maples Arena, game 5 in the Bantam 2 division, the Monarchs up 3 games to 1.The series lead could easily be flipped, with an overtime win gone the other way and a couple bounces the Sharks could be in striking position for the win.

That being said, this is playoffs. Unscripted drama, momentum changes on a dime, and series come backs are nothing unusual.

In the first period, the Monarchs out played the Sharks. They tallied 4 even strength goals in the 20 minute frame, 2 coming from Josh Filmon.

The Monarchs maintained the fast pace, however the Sharks had push back of their own with some help from two Power-plays. The Sharks won the period with a lone Power-play goal from Peyton Hinkel-Lysak.

Trailing by 3 goals going into the third, the Sharks had to make their move early. The Monarchs were quick to counter and within the first 10 minutes extending the lead.

Keegan Gordon stayed strong all game for the Monarchs, turning away 24 of 25 shots. The game concluded 7-1, the Monarchs take the crown in the Bantam 2 division. Congratulations to the team, coaches, management and parents!
