Wednesday night action at Notre Dame Arena

In last nights AAA hockey action, the Winnipeg Warriors and Pembina Valley Hawks clashed at the frosty Notre Dame complex.  In the Bantam 1 league, the West division has the Warriors anchoring at the bottom of a group full of four powerhouse teams. Over on the East side the teams are competitive and the Pembina Valley Hawks currently find themselves in the middle of the pack heading into the final frame of the year.

The Hawks controlled the play for most of the game. Their success came from a tough neutral ice fore-check, limiting opportunities offensively, and efficient puck movement. Impact players for Pembina Valley were Captain Roux Bazin and Guerin Apperley (both with 1G, 2A).

Warriors net minder Michael O’Sullivan stopped 38 of 42 shots sent his way, keeping the Warriors all but out of the game until the third period when a Nolan Bettens converted on the Power play. However it was too little too late as the Hawks had an answer, giving the Warriors no chance at redemption. The Pembina Valley Hawks emerged with a 4-1 victory.
