Grayson Slaney scores twice as Eastman forces game 5

Eastman 4 Pembina Valley 1

March 21 2023 - Winkler MB

Casey Magarrell would open the first period scoring to give Pembina Valley a 1 to 0 lead. Eastman's Lucas Laramee would score to tie the game at 1 heading into the second period.

Kylan Olson would give Eastman their first lead of the game when he scored a last minute goal allowing them to take a 2 to 1 lead into the 3rd.

Grayson Slaney would score twice in the third period to make the final Eastman 4 Pembina Valley 1.

With the victory Eastman ties the series at 3 and forces a winner take all game 5. 

 

Brandon 4 - Wild 3 - 2OT

March 18 2023 - Brandon MB

The Wild would get first period goals from Wyatt Dyck and Declan Siwicki to take a 2 to 0 lead into the second period.

Cole Lobreau would score the loan goal of the second period to get Brandon on the board. The Wild would still carry a 2 to 1 lead after 40 minutes.

Brandon's Ethen Church would open the third period scoring to tie the game at 2. The Wild would regain the lead on a goal from Will Van Norman however Ethan Stanley would tie the game with 34 seconds left in the third to send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period Nolan Saunderson would score to give Brandon the win and a 3 to 2 series lead in the best of 7 championship final.

 

Pembina Valley 2 Eastman 1

March 19 2023 - Winkler MB

Lucas Laramee scored on a powerplay at 1:56 of the first period to give Eastman a 1 to 0 lead.  Pembina Valley would get that one back when Ragnar Gillis also score on the powerplay to sent the teams tied at 1 after 20 minutes

Tegan Fehr would score the only goal of the second period to give Pembina Valley a 2 to 1 lead heading into the third period.

Neither team scored in the third making the final Pembina Valley 2 Eastman 1.  With the victory Pembina Valley takes a 2 to 1 lead in the best of 5 series.

AAA Coaching opportunities

COACHING OPPORTUNITIES:  The Hockey Winnipeg AAA Council is accepting coaching applications for the 2023 - 2024 season. The positions are for "AAA" teams in the U15, U17 Prep and U18 Provincial leagues. As well as being part of an outstanding hockey program, all of our AAA coaches receive a generous Year End Honorarium, a semi-annual Travel Allowance, a AAA Team Wear allowance and full reimbursement of fees for required Coaching Qualification Courses and Seminars taken while coaching in the AAA program.  To apply, drop off your resume at the Hockey Winnipeg office at Unit 13 - 1100 Waverley Street or e-mail it to  reception@hockeywinnipeg.ca  attention Coaches Selection Committee. Dead line for applications is April 9, 2023. Please note the Coaching Requirements:

  • U15 - Head Coach requires High Performance 1 and Checking 1 / Assistant Coaches require Development 1
     
  • U18 / U17 - Head Coach requires High Performance 1 / Assistant Coaches require Development 1 
     
  • Provide names of your Staff - Assistant Coaches, Team Manager and Trainer (if you have one)

Wild Red force game 7 with OT victory

Wild Red 3 Brandon 2 - OT

March 21 2023 - Winnipeg MB

Each team would score in the first period with Cole Dupuis scoring for Brandon and Will Van Norman replying for the Wild.

After a scoreless second period the Wild would get their first lead of the game when Carter Kingerski scored 56 seconds into the period.  Brandon would get even on Cole Dupuis second goal of the game.  With no further scoring in the period the teams would head into overtime for the 4th time in the series.

Overtime would see Wyatt Dyck score to give the Wild the victory and send them to game seven.
