Monarchs continue their reign over the Sharks

On December 17 the Bantam 1 Monarchs hosted the Sharks at the Ice Plex in which the Monarchs controlled most of the play.  Nearing the end of the first half of the season, both teams were vying to end on a high note.  This grit and determination to win was put on display during the first period.  From the opening faceoff both of the teams raced up and down the ice creating equal scoring chances at each end. Both Monarchs goaltender Tristan Vary and Lucas Presznyak hold their own in net and keep the game scoreless through the first period.  This set up for an eventful second period

At the end of the first period the Sharks took a penalty that carried over into the second period.  Starting the period on a powerplay, the Monarchs strike first with a powerplay goal from Rylan Gould under a minute into the period.  With play returning to even strength the Monarchs add to their lead roughly 2 minutes later with a goal from Noah Dziver making the score 2-0 for the Monarchs.  This goal sparked a fire in the Sharks and pushed the Monarchs back on their heels.  This push back resulted in a goal from Daniel Tokariwski cutting the Monarchs lead in half making the game 2-1.  This goal was the turning point in the game where the Monarchs started to dominate the latter half of the game.  Just past the halfway point of the period the Monarchs find the back of the net with a goal form Lucas Hutchison and start to pull away from the Sharks.  With time winding down in the period the Monarchs Ty Genik is able to score and with 30 seconds left in the period making the score after the second period 4-1 for the Monarchs.

With the third period starting, the Monarchs pick up where they left off hemming the Sharks in their own zone and drawing a penalty from the Sharks.  With the Monarchs now on the powerplay they strike again with Grayson Burzynski beating Sharks goaltender Lucas Presznyak and making the score 5-1.  Back on even strength the play is still controlled by the Monarchs with flashes of push back from the Sharks.  This back and forth play is put to a stop when the Monarchs Rylan Gould is able to get his second of the game and add to the lead making it now a 6-1 lead.  A minute after the Monarchs score, the Sharks respond with a goal of their own from Jack Kabaluk. This goal made the score 6-2 which is the way that the game ended.
