What an amazing weekend of hockey!  From November 23rd -25th  the Winnipeg Jets AAA Classic brought together some of the best Bantam 1 hockey players from Western Canada.  Seven of the sixteen teams in the tournament came from Manitoba, with the remaining eleven teams from Saskatchewan, Alberta and North Dakota.

During round robin play, the top teams started to distance themselves from the rest of their group.  Although the top teams excelled, all of the teams put on an excellent showing and amazed the scouts and fans that filled the stands.  The games were all hard fought with the players on each team wanting to have their name on the tournament trophy and also show the scouts why they should be drafted.

Once round robin play was over, the playoff brackets began.  The Winnipeg Monarchs and the Grand Forks Aviators emerged as the top teams on their respective sides.  During the final game the Aviators really brought out the heavy artillery beating the Winnipeg Monarchs by a score of 8-1 and etched their name on the Winnipeg Jets Classic Cup.

On behalf of AAA Winnipeg, we want to say thank you to all of the teams for coming out to this tournament and providing some amazing hockey to watch.  We hope to see you all back next year.  We would also like to thank the Bell MTS IcePlex for their hospitality and willingness to help out throughout the weekend.
